The body of reporter and LGBT rights activist Juan José Roldán Ávila was found on April 16, 2017 in the state of Tlaxcala. An autopsy determined that he died from injuries suffered during torture. Prior to his death, Roldán is said to have reported online harassment in a Facebook post. The motive for the crime was not immediately known.
