On September 18, 2022, radio broadcaster Renato Blanco was fatally stabbed in Mabinay town on the island of Negros. One suspect was arrested, and he confessed to Blanco’s murder during police interrogations and said that he acted out of anger over Blanco’s radio commentaries critical of him and his political family.
Blanco hosted a radio show at POWER 102.1 DYRY RFM in Mabinay.
