Percival Mabasa, Philippines

On October 3, 2022, Percival Mabasa, also known as Percy Lapid, was fatally shot in Manila by unknown perpetrators. In early November 2022, the police accused the country’s prisons chief of ordering the killing of Mabasa over his critical reporting.

Mabasa was a well-known broadcaster and hosted the radio show Lapid Fire, where he frequently criticized the presidential administrations and the dangers of red-tagging.
