César Henry Vivanco Castro, Ecuador

On November 13, 2022, journalist César Henry Vivanco Castro was found dead at his home in Huaquillas, El Oro province, Ecuador. He was last heard of on November 11, 2022. The body had signs of being tortured: his hands were tied, he had a pillow on his head and a cut on his neck. Besides being a journalist and a member of the national journalists’ union, the Federación Nacional de Periodistas, Vivanco also worked as a photographer and event producer. The Prosecutor’s Office announced that it had opened an investigation into the case, but no progress has been reported.
