On September 30, 2022, Somali National Television (SNTV) journalist and camera operator Ahmed Mohamed Shukur was killed in a bomb attack while covering a military operation near Mogadishu.
At the time of his death, Shukur on an assignment covering a counter-terrorism operation conducted by the Somali security forces in the town of Basra. The attack also killed at least one security forces officer.
