On 30 August 2024, a reporting crew working for TSN, the news service of Ukraine’s private-owned 1+1 news channel, came under Russian fire on a trip near Pokrovsk in the eastern Donetsk region. The crew, composed of journalist Oleksandr Motorniy and at least two other media workers who were not named, was accompanying an evacuation bus with inhabitants of Pokrovsk. During their trip, a Russian drone landed and exploded in the space between the bus and the TSN car, immediately in front of the crew. No one was wounded as a result of the incident, which was filmed by one of the media workers traveling in the car. The strike came as efforts to evacuate civilians continue near the city of Pokrovsk, which is being targeted in an ongoing Russian offensive.
