In Serbia, correspondent Miljko Stojanovic of the daily newspaper Danas in eastern Serbia was targeted with death threats and online abuse after he profiled a Ukrainian refugee in his early 30s who had fled the war to Serbia. The threats have caused Stojanovic’s health to decline enough for him to require medical help. In an interview with Radio Free Liberty/Radio Europe’s Balkan service, he expressed concern for the safety of the refugee in his story and his family. Local police arrested one person in suspicion of endangering public safety.
