On 20 August 2026, the premises of Ukrainian TV channels We Ukraine (“My Ukraina”) and We Ukraine+ were damaged during a massive overnight Russian attack on Kyiv, according to the broadcaster and Detector Media. No employees were injured.
The strike damaged the entrances to the premises, blew out windows and damaged elements of the building. The newsroom, studio, part of the filming and technical infrastructure, and editorial workspaces were also damaged.
Ihor Petrenko, head of the We Ukraine media group, told Detector Media that the damage to the channels’ premises was significant, although the total cost of the losses was still being assessed. According to him, windows in the newsroom were broken or damaged, the suspended ceiling was partially destroyed, and lighting, mounted television equipment, internal structures and work areas were damaged.
Petrenko said the newsroom continued working despite the attack. Journalists remained on duty, while the rest of the team was moved to remote work. He said the team had quickly reorganised its workflow and that there were no critical changes to the channels’ broadcasting formats.
The broadcaster said it would repair the building, replace equipment and rebuild the studio. “A strike on the newsroom will not intimidate us or force us to stay silent,” Petrenko said.
