On 24 May 2026, multiple offices of Ukrainian and international media were damaged in a combined Russian strike on Kyiv, involving various types of missiles and drones, according to reports by the media outlets in question.
The damaged offices were those of:
– Deutsche Welle (DW): shock waves from explosions damaged the office of the media corporation’s Kyiv bureau: windows were broken, the ceiling at the office was damaged.
– ARD: the studio of the German public broadcaster in Kyiv was damaged. Journalist Vasyl Holod reported broken window frames, debris and damaged equipment.
– Realna Gazeta: the outlet’s editorial office was damaged, with editor-in-chief Andriy Dikhtiarenko reporting that “not a single window was left intact”.
– UNIAN: the office of the Ukrainian news agency was damaged, with editor-in-Chief Mykhailo Hannytskyi publishing a photo of broken windows.
– Graty: a Ukrainian media outlet focusing on human rights-related topics, the Kyiv office of Graty sustained light damage. Windows in the office as well as the outlet’s audio studio remained intact.
– Shelter: the Kyiv office of the Ukrainian media outlet was damaged, windows were shattered and part of the office’s ceiling collapsed.
No media workers were wounded in the bombings which affected the media offices.
