On 15 September 2026, the office of the local media outlet Obrii Iziumshchyny in Izium, Kharkiv region, was damaged during Russian attacks on the city with guided aerial bombs and multiple-launch rocket systems, according to the outlet.
At the time of the strike, two newsroom employees were inside the office. They were proofreading materials and preparing the next issue of the newspaper for print when an explosion occurred around 10 metres from the building. The employees dropped to the floor in time and were not injured. The blast wave blew out the office’s doors and windows. The premises sustained significant damage and are currently not suitable for full-time work.
Following the 15 September attack, the editorial team switched to remote work. The newspaper said it would continue preparing and publishing its print edition as long as the security situation allows. “A building can be destroyed. Windows and doors can be blown out. A newsroom can be damaged. But Ukrainian journalism cannot be stopped,” the outlet said.
