On 6 April 2022, the Ukrainian Association of Media Business said that the new, pro-Russian authorities in Melitopol were using the brand name and logo of Melitopolskiye Vedomosti (MV), a local newspaper, to publish a newspaper praising the Russian occupying forces. MV Holding editor Mykhailo Kumok said the newspaper’s previous team had no relation to the new format of the newspaper. Melitopolskiye Vedomosti editor-in-chief Yevhen Boryan and journalists Yulia Olkhovska, Lyubov Chaika were earlier detained by Russian troops in Melitopol, along with publisher of MV Holding Mikhail Kumok. The four media workers were released later the same day on March 21.
