Russian journalist Oksana Baulina was killed in Kyiv shelling by the Russian military forces. She was filming the damage in Kyiv’s Podil district for independent Russian news website The Insider. She had previously sent multiple reports from Kyiv and Lviv. One other person was killed and two were wounded in the same shelling. Baulina had previously worked for opposition figure Alexei Navalnyi’s anti-corruption foundation. The foundation was declared “extremist” last year after which Baulina left Russia along with many other staff members and started reporting for The Insider. She started her career working for lifestyle magazines including Time Out Moscow, but after years shifted to more political work. “The Insider expresses its deepest condolences to Oksana’s family and friends. We will continue to cover the war in Ukraine, including such Russian war crimes as indiscriminate shelling of residential areas which result in the deaths of civilians and journalists” The Insider said on its website.
