Russian hackers attack Freedom TV channel

On 24 April 2026, Russian hackers attacked the internal communication system of Ukraine’s state international broadcaster Freedom, temporarily gaining access to the channel’s corporate newsroom chat, according to a statement by the state enterprise Multimedia Platform for Foreign Broadcasting of Ukraine.

As a result of the attack, logins belonging to some journalists, editors and other employees of the Multimedia Platform for Foreign Broadcasting of Ukraine were leaked online. The hackers also published fragments and individual screenshots of internal work correspondence.

According to the broadcaster, one Russian hacker group claimed responsibility for the attack. The Multimedia Platform for Foreign Broadcasting of Ukraine said that technical teams were working together with relevant state authorities to address the consequences of the intrusion.
