On 8 September 2026, a Russian drone struck the premises of Ukrainian TV channels We–Ukraine (My –Ukraina) and We–Ukraine+ in Kyiv while We–Ukraine was broadcasting live as part of the national United News telethon, according to the broadcaster.
The attack took place during the day, after a massive overnight Russian attack on Kyiv. According to We – Ukraine, a Russian drone hit the premises of the media outlet, causing a fire and partial destruction of the building.
The broadcaster said the main impact hit the newsroom and work offices. We–Ukraine general producer Yurii Suhak said the newsroom was located on the second floor and that staff were working there live on air at the moment of the strike.
Suhak said six employees were injured in the attack, with light or moderate wounds. Emergency medical services arrived at the scene and provided the necessary assistance, and the injured colleagues were later in safety.
The strike temporarily stopped the channel’s broadcasting. Suhak thanked the team of 1+1, which quickly took over the United News telethon broadcast after the attack, as well as other media outlets that offered assistance. He said he hoped the channel would be able to resume work within one or two days.
