On 10 September 2026, as reported by the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU), the building that housed the newsroom of the newspaper Visti in Sloviansk, Donetsk region, was damaged in a Russian airstrike on the city center.
Russian forces attacked Sloviansk with three KAB-500 guided aerial bombs. The strike damaged 12 apartment buildings, wounded five people and killed one person. The nearby Drukarskyi Dvir printing house was also damaged.
Visti editor-in-chief Oleksandr Kulbaka told the NUJU that the blast blew out windows, grilles and frames in the newsroom building. He said property that remained inside, including desktop computers, scanners and printers, was also likely damaged, although the condition of the equipment was not yet known.
The newsroom has been relocated since 2022 and had not been using the premises regularly for the past two years. The team continues to produce the newspaper remotely from Odesa, Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk region.
Visti is the oldest print publication in Donetsk region. The newspaper has been published since 1917 and is soon due to mark its 109th anniversary.
