Roskomnadzor threatens to block media and bans use of “war” and “invasion” in reporting

Russian state internet Roskomnadzor threatened to block 10 Russian media over of that it deemed to be “false” information shared on their news websites about the invasion. The media in question were ordered to remove the information on their website or face penalties. According to Roskomnadzor, the false information concerned the number of civilian casualties. The media outlets were also ordered not to use words “attack”, “invasion”, or “war” when they refer to Russia’s actions in Ukraine. If the media outlets did not comply, they were threatened with access restrictions.
