Public officers assault journalist for reporting on bribe scandal

On February 1, Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officers were filmed assaulting a journalist from the Kitale-based Standard Media Group. The journalist had been tipped off about a traffic officer accepting bribes from motorists and aimed to document the incident. Nonetheless, the law enforcement officials obstructed him, resulting in a dispute and subsequent aggressive conduct by the police.
