Office of local outlet in Izyum damaged in Russian missile strike

On 4 February 2025, the office of Obrii Izyumshchyny, a local news outlet in the city of Izyum (Kharkiv region), was damaged in a Russian missile strike which targeted the city center, according to the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU). The union said that the Izyum-based outlet had been renting two rooms in one of the targeted buildings and had been using them as an office space.

“Windows were broken, a suspended ceiling collapsed in [one of] the room[s], and the door was damaged by the blast wave. Our employee’s car was destroyed. But the editorial staff, fortunately, are alive,” said Kostyantyn Hryhorenko, the editor-in-chief of Obrii ​​Izyumshchyny, in conversation with NUJU.

Overall, the Russian missile attack on February 4 inflicted serious damage on the building of the city council of Izyum, as well as on another nearby administrative building. Three residential buildings in the area were also damaged, with their windows blown out by the blast wave from the explosion. According to local authorities, at least five people were killed in the attack and at least 38 were wounded.
