Novaya Gazeta journalist arrested for five days after anti-mobilization protest

On 22 September 2022, Novaya Gazeta journalist Serafim Romanov received five days of administrative arrest for reporting from a recent anti-mobilization protest in St. Petersburg. A local court considered him a protest participant, and found him guilty of violating the Russian law on public demonstrations. At least 24 journalists were detained by police across Russia at protests against mobilization, with some sentenced to several days of administrative arrest.
