Military officials arrest and detain two journalists

On November 11, 2023,  journalists Mao Zigabe and Rémy Segihobe, working with the privately owned media houses Digital Congo Télévision and Blessing FM, respectively, in Goma, the capital city of the North Kivu province,, were arrested and detained by elements of the DRC armed forces. The soldiers confiscated their telephones. On November 13, they were released without being charged. Their phones were returned to them. Their detention is believed to be in response to their publication on social media about the arrest of the alleged murderers of Simba Ngezayo, a businessman who was killed in the city on November 3.
