Media regulatory body sanctions journalist for reporting on embezzlement of public funds

On January 17, the state media regulatory body in Guinea, la Haute Autorité de la Communication (HAC), suspended the news website Depecheguinee.com for nine months. The suspension of the website follows the publication of an article on allegedly embezzled public funds of more than one billion euro frozen in a bank in Dubai.  Journalist Abdoul Latif Diallo, director of the news site in question, was also suspended for 6 months from publication by the HAC.
