On 22 October 2025, the website of independent media outlet Nakypilo was hit by a DDoS attack, causing the site to become unavailable for about an hour. The editorial team reported that the volume of malicious requests exceeded their protective systems’ capacity, temporarily disabling access for both readers and administrators.

The attack coincided with the outlet’s coverage of a Russian strike on a kindergarten in Kharkiv, leading the editorial team to suspect the disruption was a targeted attempt to block public access to war-related reporting. Chief editor Olena Leptuha stated that the timing suggested that “enemy hackers” (from Russia) were responsible.
