On 11 March 2022, a correspondent in Krasnodar for Sota Vision, an independent Russian media outlet, said she was being followed on the streets of the city, several days after she was detained by police while reporting from a local anti-war protest. Polina Ulanovskaya said two people in plain clothes were following her and stopping each time she entered a building. Following this, she claims to have walked home via an “unusual route”, but that despite this the two people later appeared in front of where she lives. Ulanovskaya said a friend of hers confirmed these events.

According to Sota, their correspondent was briefly detained on 6 March at an anti-war protest in Krasnodar, but was let go soon after she explained to police that she was participating as a journalist.
