Journalist arrested and detained over TikTok video commenting on socio-political issues

On February 7, Bruno Bidjang, a journalist from Vision 4 of the Anecdote media group, was arrested in Bafoussam, a city in western Cameroon. Security forces questioned him regarding a TikTok video he posted, which commented on sociopolitical issues in the country. He was detained at the central prison in Yaoundé on February 23. On July 11, he was sentenced to six months in prison for publication of false information on social media.
