On June 22, as reported by the deputy director of the TV-Radio Broadcasting Centre Aleksandr Chebotarev, the TV tower in Petrovsk stopped broadcasting due to shelling conducted by the Ukrainian armed forces. This was reported by the separatist outlet, the Donetsk News Agency. Chebotarev stated that repairs would commence once the shelling would cease. “Today, as a result of shelling, the television centre on Petrovka has received severe damage, so the broadcasting schemes have been changed – broadcasting from this television centre has been suspended. Digital channels are now on the air, analogue channels are not. The tower itself is standing, but the control rooms are badly damaged, we managed to evacuate some of the equipment,” Chebotarev reportedly said. IPI not able to independently verify the veracity of the reports. There is no immediate indication whether the shelling attack was targeted against the TV tower.
