On September 25, the military-led government in Burkina Faso suspended both the print and online channels of the French news outlet Jeune Afrique. This is the fourth media outlet suspended by the authorities in the country. Recently, RFI, LCI, France 24, and TV5 Monde, all France-based channels, were suspended in the country amid diplomatic tensions between Burkina Faso and France. According to MFWA, the authorities have accused the news outlet of making deliberate claims with the sole aim of “discrediting” the National Armed Forces and the auxiliary defence group Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland.
