On November 6, 2023, two journalists critical of the government, Isaka Langani and Yacouba Ladji Bama, were conscripted by the military authority, alongside several civil society organization members and critics of the military government in Burkina Faso. The conscriptions were widely seen as an act of retaliation against the journalists and others for their criticism. Bama, the founder of the online platform Bam Yinga, is currently living outside the country. Langani is a columnist for “Presse Échos,” a political analysis programme broadcast by the BF1 TV channel.
