On 8 April 2024, Ukrainian TV corporation 1+1 reported that a fake video was circulating on Telegram, which reportedly used 1+1 branding to disseminate pro-Russian disinformation. In its statement, 1+1 provided neither a link to the video, nor the details of its content, likely in order not to help spread the messaging of the spoofed content. 1+1 did however report that the video contained the term “United States of Treason”, likely a critical reference to the United States of America.

“This video is an outright fake, actively distributed by Kremlin bot farms”, 1+1 wrote in its statement. The TV corporation also called on its viewers to verify content found online and to “not spread fake news”, which would “help the enemy [Russia] conduct information attacks”. 1+1 also denied that it had launched any projects similar to the pro-Russian content distributed on Telegram under its branding.
