Registration for the Media Freedom Rapid Response (MFRR) Summit 2026 is now officially open.
The MFRR Summit is a hosted by Media Freedom Rapid Response Consortium including IPI, the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF), ARTICLE 19 Europe, the European Federation of Journalists (EFJ), Free Press Unlimited (FPU) and CCI/Osservatorio Balcani Caucaso Transeuropa (OBC Transeuropa).
This annual high-level event brings together journalists, media experts, and policymakers to discuss – and look for solutions – to the key challenges facing press freedom in Europe today.
On 12 October 2026, the discussions will focus on the financial sustainability of journalism, growing threats in the digital space, legal harassment, foreign interference, public service media, information integrity, and gendered dimensions of attacks against journalists. We will explore how independent media can be better protected and strengthened as a cornerstone of democratic resilience and security across Europe.
The event will take place at Representation of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia to the European Union in Brussels, Rue Montoyer 47, Brussels, Belgium.
Please note that capacity for this event is limited. Public registration will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis and will close once the maximum number of participants has been reached.
The MFRR Summit 2026 is organised with partnership Representation of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia to the EU and Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung.
