The International Press Institute is a partner of the Global Editors Network Summit, titled “From Post-Truth to Virtual Reality: Navigating Media’s Future”, which took place from June 21 to 23 in Vienna, Austria.

The seventh annual GEN Summit is organized by the Global Editors Network (GEN) and gathered over 750 participants from 80 countries.

This year’s summit was divided into daily themes – Disruption (June 21), Innovation (June 22) and Cooperation (June 23) – and offered a variety of thought-provoking sessions, including a conversation on “Are We Losing the Media We Need for Democracy?” between Timothy Garton Ash, a historian, political writer and author of the book “Free Speech: Ten Principles for a Connected World”, and IPI Executive Director Barbara Trionfi.

The discussion took place on June 22 at the main Summit venue, Aula der Wissenschaften (Wollzeile 27A, 1010 Wien, Austria). More information is available here.
