Syrian journalist Qays al-Qadi of pro-opposition, Istanbul-based satellite TV channel Al-Jisr died on Oct. 29, 2017 in shelling in Damascus province. Al-Qadi, who was in his 20s, was Al-Jisr’s bureau chief in rebel-held Eastern Ghouta, east of Damascus. Pro-government forces had targeted the region heavily for a week, despite it having been designated a “de-escalation zone”.
