Oles Buzina, former editor-in-chief of daily Segodnya, was gunned down by two masked men at 1:20 p.m. while jogging near his home in Kiev on April 16, 2015. Buzina had earlier said that he had received threats. According to the media reports, two days before the murder his home address and mobile number were made public on Internet websites. Buzina was an author and TV presenter, and reportedly was well known for writing pro-Russian opinion pieces. He had also unsuccessfully stood in the 2014 parliamentary elections as a candidate with the Russian Bloc party.
