Freelance photographer Mohamed Helmy was shot to death while covering demonstrations marking the third anniversary of Egypt’s Arab Spring revolution. A spokesman for the Egyptian Photojournalist Society, quoted by the Associated Press news agency, said Helmy was working for the Al Jazeera broadcaster at the time of the shooting. Journalists in Cairo told IPI that several cameramen were wounded during clashes on Jan. 25, the third anniversary of the start of demonstrations that led to the ouster of long-time leader Hosni Mubarak.
