Location: IPI Secretariat (Vienna)

Deadline for applications: Rolling basis

IPI is seeking a Turkish-speaking intern to contribute to its press freedom and communications department. IPI internships require a high degree of initiative and an ability to work independently and in a diverse environment. Candidates should have a keen interest in human rights, particularly media freedom.

IPI generally seeks undergraduate or graduate-level students, or recent graduates seeking experience in an international human rights NGO environment. Interns should be available for approximately 20 hours per week for a term of two to three months. Please note that IPI internships are unpaid.

Candidates must have a very strong command of verbal and written Turkish and must also be proficient in English. Other languages, and additional skills such as social media, are welcomed.

Responsibilities will include monitoring developments related to press freedom in Turkey; conducting research and updating IPI’s databases; producing written content for IPI’s FreeTurkeyJournalists campaign; and other related tasks.

Candidates should contact IPI Press Freedom Officer Renan Akyavas, rakyavas[at]ipi[dot]media, with a resume/CV and a cover letter indicating dates of availability. No calls, please.

Please note that, due to the volume of applications, only applicants under serious consideration for an internship will be contacted.
