Associated Press (AP) photojournalist Franklin Reyes Marrero, 39, was killed in a car collision on Nov. 3, 2014 while returning from the port of Mariel, west of Havana, where he was covering a story about the Cuban economy, AP reported. Reyes reportedly lost control of his vehicle after it skid on a patch of gravel, and collided with another car after crossing into oncoming traffic. Two passengers in the other vehicle later died from injuries sustained in the accident. Reyes had worked as an AP photojournalist since 2009. According to the media outlet, he was the fourth AP journalist to die while on assignment so far in 2014.
