IPI, with the support of the Embassy of Canada to Austria, has teamed with Austrian international human rights film festival “this human world” to screen the documentary “Frame by Frame”, the story of four Afghan photojournalists navigating their country’s emerging and dangerous media landscape, on Dec. 10 at Vienna’s Top Kino theatre.

Following the screening, award-winning international filmmaker and photographer Leslie Knott joined the audience to discuss the film and her experiences working for 14 years in Afghanistan.

“Frame by Frame” tells the story of the lives and work of four photojournalists after the fall of the oppressive Taliban regime, which made taking a photo a crime. After decades of war, the four face the reality of building a free press in a country left to stand on its own – reframing Afghanistan for the world and for themselves. Through cinema vérité, intimate interviews, powerful photojournalism, and never-before-seen archival footage shot in secret during the Taliban regime, “Frame by Frame” connects audiences with four humans in the pursuit of the truth.
