The International Press Institute (IPI) will join an upcoming series of seminars in Dublin, Ireland hosted by the broadcaster Near FM as part of the project Respect Words – Ethical Journalism in Media. The seminars are aimed at online, print, and broadcast journalists interested in discussing ethics, codes and regulations and the responsibilities of traditional and online media in the context of hate speech. IPI’s Scott Griffen will deliver a keynote speech on “Challenges to Tackling Online Hate Speech” from the perspective on freedom of expression and the press.

This seminar is part of the project “Respect Words”, coordinated by EMA-RTV and including the Greek public broadcaster EPT, Radio Dreyeckland (Germany), Near FM (Ireland), Radio Popolare (Italy), Radio Student (Slovenia), Civil Radio (Hungary) and the International Press Institute.

Respect Words will also see the production of a set of ethical guidelines for journalists covering migration and minorities as well as a radio campaign aiming to put the guidelines into practice.
