Buenaventura Calderón , 73, a radio host, and his wife were attacked by gunmen outside their home in Puerto Lempira in the department of Gracias a Dio on November 1. While Calderón died on the spot, his wife later succumbed to her injuries in the hospital. He was the host of a show on Kupia Kumi 94.9 radio, owned by the Catholic Church in Puerto Lempira. Reports said that Calderón was critical of local authorities and corruption in the government. Police are investigating the case
