Investigative journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia was known for her fearless coverage of power in her home country of Malta. On Oct. 16, 2017, she was murdered in a car bombing in apparent retaliation for her work.

Nearly two years later, Malta has made virtually no progress in finding the mastermind behind the killing. Instead, press freedom in the EU’s smallest member state continues to worsen. How is such a situation possible in the EU? What are the circumstances that led to Daphne’s murder – and that perpetuate impunity today?

Join the International Press Institute (IPI) and Presseclub Concordia for a discussion on September 13 in Vienna with:

• Matthew Caruana Galizia, journalist and son of Daphne Caruana Galizia
