Syrian freelance journalist Wasem Al Adel – a contributor to Turkey’s Anadolu Agency and a member of the Maarat Media Center – was killed on Oct. 23, 2015 in an airstrike in Syria’s north-western Idlib province. Al Adel was reportedly struck by shrapnel while covering the airstrike. The Anadolu Agency reported that the airstrike was carried out by a Russian jet, but Syrian government news agency SANA claimed that a Syrian jet was responsible.
