On May 31, 2016, IPI teamed up with the Indian Women’s Press Corp, the Delegation of the European Union in India and the Finnish Embassy in India to organise a seminar on best practices for media coverage of human rights for Indian journalists.

The chair of IPI’s India National Committee, N. Ravi, the former editor-in-chief of The Hindu, delivered the event’s keynote address. In addition, IPI Member Kari Huhta, diplomatic editor of Finland’s Helsingin Sanomat newspaper, spoke as part of the seminar’s panel on coverage of women’s issues.

The seminar, held in New Delhi, summarised best practices for media reporting of human rights in Europe and India for an audience of Indian journalists, editors and think tanks. Speakers includeed senior Indian and EU journalists as well as policy experts.
