Radio broadcaster Patricio Oliveira, of South Radio Cearense AM, was riding a motorcycle on March 30, 2015 in the city centre of Brejo Santo shortly after leaving the radio station when he was gunned down by two suspects on another motorcycle. He was taken to a hospital, where he died. Oliveira reportedly had received threats related to his reporting and his attackers did not take any of his belongings.
