Iranian sports journalists Milad Hojjatoleslami and Hossein Javadi died on March 24, 2015 when the co-pilot of Germanwings Flight 9525 deliberately crashed the plane in which they were traveling into a mountain in the French Alps, killing all 150 people aboard. At the time of their deaths, Hojjatoleslami was working as a sports correspondent for the Tasnim News Agency and Javadi was working as a reporter for daily Vatan-e-Emrooz. The pair was travelling to Austria in order to report on a football match between the Iranian and Chilean national teams.
