Humam Najjar died on April 16, 2015 from injuries he sustained in a car bomb attack on the headquarters of local rebel groups in Marea nine days earlier. Also known as Abu Yazan al-Halabi, Najjar was on assignment for Aleppo Today at the time of the bombing. He was a former press officer for rebels targeted in the bombing and reportedly was present to interview a rebel commander when the bomb detonated.
