Paraguayan journalist Gerardo Servían was shot to death on March 5, 2015 in the Brazilian town of Ponta Pora, just across the border from Pedro Juan Caballero in Paraguay where he worked for a local radio station. He was riding a motorcycle when two individuals on another motorcycle overtook him from behind and fired multiple shots into his back and head before immediately fleeing. Servían reportedly had recently broadcast critical reports about Pedro Juan Caballero’s mayor.
