Colombian journalist Flor Alba Núñez Vargas was murdered on September 10, 2015 in Pitalito, Colombia. In an act caught on harrowing video, two men shot Núñez Vargas at close range as she entered the offices of the radio station she directed, La preferida Stereo. Initial reports have suggested several motives for Núñez Vargas’s murder, all related to her reporting, including coverage of a local gang, local elections and the recent killing of a dog, for which she had reportedly received threats.
