Abdul Salam Kanaan, a photographer for Syrian satellite channel Al-Jisr TV, was killed on Oct. 31, 2016 reportedly while filming Syrian government airstrikes on the town of Zafraneh, north of Homs. According to a colleague, Kanaan was filming Syrian jets firing missiles at the village from his home when his house was hit and destroyed. Kanaan was hit in the head by shrapnel and died instantly.
